The final round of competition is upon us and Pakistan are one match away from winning the Warwick Todd trophy. All that stands between them and voctory is the Warwick Todd 11, who are currently leading the competition so this will be no easy victory.
Ijaz Ahmed will miss the final match though, he has been forced to step down due to match fixing allegations brought against him for his poor performances in the early matches of the season, when Pakistan was having a rough trot.
Pakistan has been more than pleased with their performance in the competition since the defeats of the early round and securing the Warwick Todd trophy will take away some of the pain that the people of Pakistan feel in not winning the competition outright.

Another week, another loss for the struggling Sri Lankans. Despite a spirited performance against the indomitable Warwick Todd XI, Sri Lanka once again ended up on the wrong side of the ledger.
Sri Lanka once again disappointed, firstly by not finishing off a struggling Warwick Todd side in the home side's first innings (conceding almost 100 runs for the last four wickets), and secondly by producing an inconsistent at best batting display themselves.
Looking out of the game after conceding a 125 run first innings deficit, a strong bowling display from young livewire paceman Nuwan Zoysa bought the Sri Lankans an unexpected second chance at securing the match. In one of the Warwick Toddian side's few disappointing efforts over the '98 season, the home side were bundled out for a cheap 143 runs, setting the Sri Lankans a seemingly achievable target of 269.
Unfortunately, once again the Sri Lankans managed only a patchy batting performance. While the openers put on some runs, the middle order proved pathetically brittle, the next five batsmen combining to score a feeble 20 runs. Although the tail wagged and did their best to save the cause, the fightback was always in vain, and Sri Lanka fell 66 runs short of the target, a little after lunch on the final day.
The saga that is the 1998 Sri Lankan cricket season continues...
