NEW SOUTH WALES - Manager: Brad Hicks

The one that got away!!

The NSW team is in disarray after a disappointing loss to WA on the weekend. The most important part of the match was when Mark Waugh one of the best fielders in the world dropped a sitter in the final stages in the game and then NSW ended up losing by 2 wickets. The return of some form by McGrath was a plus to the troubling weekend and a strong performance next week is expected.

QUEENSLAND - Manager: Tony Noyeaux

A magnificent win by the Bulls this week with the comeback of injured Stuart Law. At full strength this team is still undefeated.

All eyes go to the next match versus the other early heavyweight of this year's Shield... NSW. Queensland's batting is in mighty form, and will definitely need to fire against a very tough Blues team.

Captain Ian Healy has asked for a little bit extra from all his players this week, knowing if they win this one, they could have a little breathing room on the Shield Table.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA - Manager: Trevor Hansford

The South Australian team suffered at the hands of Tasmania by 161 runs. This is now the Redbacks 3rd loss at home which must be frustrating to its supporters. The main difference between the two teams was Di Venuto who scored 149no and 143no, who was unlucky not to bring up a 150. The Redbacks now head to Victoria for their next game, in a game that they must win to stay alive.

TASMANIA - Manager: Nick Rogers

VICTORIA - Manager: "Westie"

Well I don't know what is happening at the moment but we don't seem to be able to get the wins. Everything looks good on paper but for some reason it's not paying off. We will be looking for a win this week against South Australia to bring back some player morale so we can go on to bigger and better things for the rest of the season. We know we are good enough to knock over any of the teams but to do that we have to all do our part.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Manager: Chris Rogers

NEW SOUTH WALES 2nd XI - Manager: Wally Cowan

After being thrashed by Tasmania last week we needed a big improvement this week. We started badly but fortunately the much-needed improvement arrived before the end of the match, allowing us to come from behind to win. WA batted first and made 306 with Scott Thompson picking up 4 wickets. We then batted but we could only scrape together 174. Graeme Rummans continued his recent good form, top-scoring with 42. Brett Lee then took 6 wickets to restrict WA to 203. We needed 336 to win and we got there thanks to the batting of Rod Davison (112), Mark Higgs (61) and Brad Haddin (53). We are now clearly in 2nd place but we are a long way behind Tassie. If we can beat last-placed Queensland this week we can consolidate our spot on the table.

QUEENSLAND 2nd XI - Manager: Bradley Ashcroft

Our batting against the Vics last week was great, Perren our saviour with two great scores. But we could only manage a draw, Anderson bowled well and so did Pascoe and Prestwidge, but captain Jackson still isn't doing much - only 12 wickets @ 58 runs per wicket. We played Scott O'Leary last week, he is a great leggie but for some unknown reason he didn't bowl at all. We are still lucky to have no injuries so far this season. Next week against NSW we plan to make some changes - hopefully we will see a better team.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA 2nd XI - Manager: Tyrone Marshall

DODGY FORM COULD COST SA DEARLY

South Australia's 2nd XI got their 2nd defeat of the season this week with a 191 runs loss to top of the table Tasmania. SA managed to hang on in the first innings and had a deficit of just 41 runs... then the problems began.

In Tas's 2nd innings thay amassed 334 all out, pick of the bowlers was Crook picking up his 19th wicket of the season. Then needing 375 to win SA were lookin good on 107/1. Then a collapse of 71/9 struck. In that were collapses of 7/24. The first time SA's batting has been of a poor quality all season.

The only good point was the form of No.1 strike bowler Joe Scuderi, unfortunately not for his bowling. He has hit 211 runs this season at an average of 35.17 and is also the second best fielder with 5 catches, two behind Dean Waugh.

TASMANIA 2nd XI - Manager: Dave Hickey

After four rounds Tasmania remain undefeated and are unbackable favourites to win the inaugural 2nd XI title. Last week Tasmania played a determined South Australia team who were competitive for most of the match but fell away at the end, losing their last six wickets for just 11 runs as Shannon Tubb spun the visitors to victory.

Manager Dave Hickey praised his team saying that he was very happy with the teamwork that his team was displaying. He added that he was not concerned about the current form of bowler Hutchison and batsmen Mason, Allanby and Daly. "They are all very good players who know what is required. Their time will come," he said.

Next week Tasmania will take on Western Australia hoping to record their fifth straight win for the season.

VICTORIA 2nd XI - Manager: Christo McDonald

A Draw: NO a LOSS for Victoria 2nd XI, drawing this weekend against Queensland. Needed only 1 wicket at end of Day 5 to win the match. Again our fielding let us down dropping 5 catches in Queensland's second innings. Costing us a badly needed win. A place the final getting smaller week by week.

We hope that Queensland can upset NSW this weekend to improve out changes. Hoping that Western Australia going to have a big loss against Tasmania.

We must win against South Australia this coming week to stand a change of getting to the final. We have change our bowling attack again, trying to get the batsmen of South Australia out quickly, their bowling attack looking on the thin side.

Our inform batsman, Peter Harper, has got 116, 54, 144 and 47 in his last four innings, average of 60.57 for the season. He is our danger man for South Australia to watch out for.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA 2nd XI - Manager: Dave Symes
