NEW SOUTH WALES - Manager: Brad Hicks

NSW MOVES TO THE TOP
A dominant batting lineup full of former or current test players has shot NSW into the outright lead after 3 rounds of the competition. Morale is high with the majority of the players in good form. The only shock to the team so far is Glenn McGrath whose recent bowling performances have been nowhere near up to standard, however, he has replied with some lusty hitting at the tail (39 not out) in recent matches.

QUEENSLAND - Manager: Tony Noyeaux

"Shock! Horror!" in Queensland today as the Bulls experienced their first loss. Coach Noyeaux was furious that the Law injury unbalanced the team. Just what went wrong is still an mystery,... with 800 runs scored against the Bulls in 2 innings, blame could well lay with the bowling attack. Law's return this week should mean a few extra runs and hopefully we won't see a repeat of last week's effort.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA - Manager: Trevor Hansford

South Australia had their first win of the season against the previously undefeated Queensland Bulls. The South Australian manager said that he now believes that the team is almost playing to the best of its ability. The South Australian batting line up finally clicked with big 100's being scored by Blewett and Siddons. South Australia now fly back for their next home game against Tasmania and with both teams needing a win to stay in touch with the league leaders - it should be a great game.

TASMANIA - Manager: Nick Rogers

VICTORIA - Manager: "Westie"

Well, we have our first win of the series against a good Western Australian side and we will be looking to take the second place spot from Queensland this week. We have lost Warne from this game so the other bowlers will have to work hard as will all the batsman to give the bowlers a chance. Our batsman will have to look out for Bichel, Dale and Kasprowicz who are all top class bowlers and our bowlers will have to knock off the Queensland top order to have a chance in this game but we feel we have the team that can do it even without Warne.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Manager: Chris Rogers

NEW SOUTH WALES 2nd XI - Manager: Wally Cowan

Well, my record against Dave Hickey has now gone to 0-3 and the NSW 2nd XI will spend the week licking their wounds after being thrashed by Tasmania. With keeper and in-form batsman Brad Haddin out injured we needed some of the other guys to chip in but our 1st innings effort of 106 was pretty ordinary and our 2nd innings of 223 was a bit better but it was all over by then. Only Graeme Rummans with 42 and 97, top scoring in both digs, can hold his head up. This week we travel to Perth - a traditionally bad venue for NSW teams - to take on WA. They are unbeaten at home so far and we will need to be at our best to make up for last week's dismal effort.

QUEENSLAND 2nd XI - Manager: Bradley Ashcroft

Last week I think the batting in the first innings was top class, but our bowlers let us down again, Pascoe the only one doing anything good. Carseldine's 99 and 88 was a great performance from a player who is in a team without much form. I haven't made any changes to the team this season but I might make a change or two this week cause we simply aren't good enough to compete in this league if we don't start winning. If we do make a change it will probably be an extra bowler bought in. If we do put in a extra bowler it will be very hard to decide wich batsmen misses out. So, Victoria better be ready for a good match cause we're desperate to show that we ain't losers!

SOUTH AUSTRALIA 2nd XI - Manager: Tyrone Marshall

WAUGH AND KELTON DOMINANT PAIR
South Australia 2nd XI grabbed their 2nd win of the season this weekend over a Queensland team without a win all season. This has moved them up to 3rd in the table and coach Marshall's plan he outlined last week seem's to be working.

Having, in both previous matches conceded 500 runs in one innings his bowlers restricted Queensland to 389 all out, a lead of 41 over South Australia's first innings total of 348, dominated by top batsmen Dean Waugh.

When South Australia's openers returned to the crease they set off on setting Qld a high target. With a 165 from Hook and a 128 from opener Kelton they eventually declared on 520-8, Queensland needed 480 to win.

Queensland were bowled out for 223 as coach Marshall had Waugh, Hook and Kelton to thank for hitting 400-500 runs between them.

Waugh and Kelton now share similar averages. Kelton has hit 473 runs in 6 innings with 2 century's and 2 half century's at an average of 78.83. Waugh has hit 459 runs in 6 innings with 1 century and 3 half century's at an average of 76.50. Top men!

TASMANIA 2nd XI - Manager: Dave Hickey

After just three rounds, the Tasmanian 2nd XI remain undefeated and have opened up a 23 point break at the top of the table. The much anticipated clash with the vastly experienced NSW 2nd XI proved to be a very one-sided affair, with Tasmania winning by an innings and 58 runs.

Starring for Tasmania were keeper/batsman Todd Pinnington with 111 runs and eight dismissals, and Damian Wright with match figures of 7/96.

With the senior Tasmanian team languishing at the bottom of the table, there is pressure mounting as the 2nd XI players continue to stake their claim for higher honours.

VICTORIA 2nd XI - Manager: Christo McDonald

This week is a must win match. In our first three matches we only collected 5 batting points. If we lose to Queensland we will be dead last. Our problem in our last match: our fielding - dropping 8 catches in the match. We can't afford to do it again. After we corrected our fielding problem, Western Australia's last 7 wickets fell for just 47 runs. We were a bit worried when we set them a target of 482 to win and they were 298/3. We had a big weekend collecting 21 points compared to only 3 in are first two matches. Our captain Michael Foster, only scoring 1 fifty in six innings, is a man out to prove a point against Queensland.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA 2nd XI - Manager: Dave Symes
